How a sheet becomes a page

Cotton to pulp
Cotton rag is beaten down and suspended in water until the fibres float free.

The pull
Each sheet is lifted from the vat by hand on a mould and deckle — the reason no two edges match.

Pressed and dried
Sheets are couched onto felt, pressed, and dried slowly rather than forced.
- 04
Bound by hand
Pages are stitched into leather, one journal at a time.
